The Thai cooking class was  delicious. Cuba, with its vibrant rhythms, rich heritage, lush green landscapes and dotted with limestone pinnacles, is a dream location for most photographers.  Cuba’s photographic opportunities differ from any other country in the world and is becoming more popular to many aspiring photographers in search of a country that is set back in time.  Join Julie for this 12 day photographic experience with a small group of only 8. • Havana – City of colour, old cars, historical buildings, as we do our model shoot with vintage cars on location
• Photograph the local dance school with their vibrant,  colours as they perform their Salsa dancing they are famous for

We enjoyed our 2017 Sri Lanka photo trip with tour leader Julie Geldard and guide Ransome Lorenz very much. The itinerary, which explored much of the island was varied and provided plenty of exotic subject matter and numerous great photo opportunities.

From fishermen pulling in their catch at sunset on the beach, to the national parks and safaris in search of wildlife, then to cultural events and religious festivals, there was scope for everyone to capture some amazing images.

After 2 trips to Sri Lanka I have chosen the most outstanding locations, wildlife experiences and

Arrive in Chang Mai Thailand, to experience a few Thai delights in our days trip to the border down overlooking the Mekong. We board a luxury long boat, chosen specially for us with our English speaking guide as we meander along the Mekong taking in the Lifeline of the people of Laos. We capture small villages along the way, as we cruise into Luang Prang the Paris of Asia. A city you will not want to leave but we must as we spent another 10 days capturing the most amazing waterfall system, staying in home stays and small guest houses, And visiting butterfly house, black bear rescue centre and further north to the karst pinnacles of Laos with stick villages nestled between the cliffs with mist settling around the amazing scenery. A huge variety of photographic subjects guaranteed with the peace of this beautiful country and her people. Join me as soon as you can as the country will slowly change.

Lightroom Lessons

Getting started with Lightroom

Lightroom has become the easy work flow for most photographers, which includes, cataloguing, rating, developing, and exporting with ease.  Photoshop has became the program for creative work with layers and returning images back to lightroom for exporting if desired.

Join  Julie, Brian and Suzanne to master a program that once you have started using, you won’t go back and your images will be Wow!

Next lessons:  Basic Lightroom – Wednesday, 17th July, 2019 
Advanced: Wednesday 18th September, 2019

During this introductory course, we will go through the basic features of Lightroom covering importing, sorting, developing with the basic module and exporting images. You will gain practical experience by working on images and be ready to use Lightroom for your image management workflow when you get home!

Advanced Lightroom:  Extend on Basics course in all facets from importing with optional presets, metadata, cataloguing.   Expand on your rating, and shortcuts. We will continue through the editing/developing modules to cover all the panel with theory and practical.   Finishing with exporting and creating your own watermarks and options for creating catalogues for future efficient storage and finding your images.

We have found that one full day is just too much for most people and two split days is much more user friendly, allowing participants to practise and come back ready for more.  The advanced course could be suitable for people who would like to fine tune their lightroom skills with latest updates.

• Introduce the Library Module and work on a method for Cataloging your images that suits your needs
• Discuss collections what are they and how to create and use them
• Learn how to rate your images
• Use the develop module to enhance your images

About Lightroom HDR:

Lightroom can now easily merge merge multiple exposure-bracketed images into a single HDR quality image while maintaining the contrast without losing detail to highlights and secrets of the shadows in a HIGH CONTRAST situation. Watumba Sunrise was a very extreme situation with highlights in the sky and darks in the foreground water.

Portrait Workshop on Location

Tony and only 6 participants, and a specially chosen  model and will go walking. You will never be in the same place twice. Learn how to explore different lighting situations. When you stop walking, a timer will be set – you’ll have 30 seconds to find your exposure, then you have to line up one in front of the other.  You will get 30 seconds each until you are pushed aside by the next shooter! And then we walk to another location and repeat. It will be crazy, it will be great fun – with guaranteed laughter and learning.

This workshop will be suited to anyone that wants to learn more about posing and directing a model and finding the best light.

You only need to bring a digital SLR camera with 1 or 2 lenses, I carry a 80-200mm f2.8, 17-50mm f2.8 & 50mm f1.8. A tripod will only slow you down. An external shoe mounted flash would be handy but not essential. If you are comfortable with off-camera flash (and very fast!) you can give that a go too. Bring a water bottle & suitable walking shoes.

We take our own  51’ yacht and enjoy the freedom  to sail around the islands:  Ios, Paros, Naxos, Amorgos, Delos and fantastic Mykonos. Santorini to Mykonos, return to Santorini. Island stop-overs dependant on where the wind takes us.

Phil and I are Experienced Sailors of 15 years. Jules speaks the lingo.
We will also have a Professinal Skipper with local knowledge.

June 24^th Catch  Ferry to Crete – Rethminon or Heraklion, stay in Chania, spend two days walking famous Samaria Gorge.
Samaria Gorge  –  http://www.explorecrete.com/hiking/samaria.html As there are no roads on the Southern side of the Sameria Gorge the boat will take
us to a wonderful fishing village to stay the night then bus back to the Northern side of the island.  It was here that during the war the Australian soldiers were hidden and picked up by the Allied Forces to escape.   The Sullivans was filmed around this location.  Ooops! Showing my age.

Ferries or flights return throughout the day to Athen at a reasonable price. We stay at Athens at the Phidias Hotel which is about $75 each per night and is right
